Nicole Di Bernardo executed one of the most memorable Nidan tests in recent memory at Inaka Dojo Saturday November 9th. Wendy Whited Sensei and Yuki Hara Sensei both taught energetic classes before adjudicating the test. Nicole and a large contingent from Aikido of West Bend made the hundred and seventy mile drive for the test. Dojos from Madison to Indiana were represented. Even Scott Griffin who is recovering from a serious auto accident while in the line of duty made a surprise appearance to watch and support Nicole.
Wendy Whited Sensei had this to say about the test.
Training and desire always shows on a test. Congratulations to Nicole for all of her hard work, willingness to travel to train, and the efforts of her teacher, Eric Novak and the folks at her dojo. I would also like to thank Kay Sandacz and the folks at Inaka Dojo who came to class to help Nicole train.
Yuki Hara Sensei comment was simple, to the point and spoke for most of us,
I loved it!
Nicole’s randori was one of power, speed and beguiling movement. Before one uke hit the ground she was engaging the next putting them in the way of each other to make space.
Again Congratulations Nicole!
The distances your fellow aikidoka traveled to be part of your test speaks volumes about you as an aikidoka and as a person.
