Pound in the New Year January 11th at the Tohkon Judo Academy‘s annual Kagami Biraki celebration. Start the day, 8am, with some Mochi Tsuki (rice pounding). At noon Reverend Goro Oki will perform a Tenrikyo Ohana-i purification of the Dojo and the entire JASC building. Following the purification the Kokyo Taiko drummers will perform. The Chicago Aikido Club will demonstrate Aikido at 1:10 followed by a Judo demonstration by the students of the Tohkon Judo Academy. After the demo’s and presentations are over enjoy a potluck that is second to none. Come early, leave full.

Here Tono Sensei shows the rice who the boss is.
